So I went searching for some kind of cloud making tutorial and found this. Thought it looked cute, I am a fan of rainbows and fluffy clouds. Got half way through and then realised I was making a night sky. Guess the title just didn't sink in! Never seen rainbows at night but hey, I've never seen orangey tan clouds either so it's all good. You can find the tutorial here.
The instructions for this tutorial were fairly easy to follow and did I mention that I think the fluffy clouds are super cute? I'm not so thrilled with how the rainbow turned out and feel that it is supposed to have more colours.... This was also my first experience in using Illustrator and had to say, it made me feel like a complete newb again... The tutorial did not explain exactly how to use Illustrator so I had to do some research to complete this part. Good old Google.com!
I took a half way mark image, in case you weren't actually wanting to make it a night sky and planned on a different kind of background.
Having a dark background like black is probably a bad idea. It makes the colours really stand out but in this case it makes the look rather fake. The top rainbow looks a bit funny because I had to stretch it to fit on my page. The tutorial didn't recommend a starting size so I had to guess....
And here is my final image. As you can see I really love stars... And the colours are still very poppy as compared to the tutorial... I think I need to figure out how to blur them a bit. Maybe I missed something... I still like it though, especially the parts without the clouds or rainbows.... :D
